ORMOND BEACH RESIDENT JOE HANNOUSH RUNNING FOR STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 25

Ormond Beach, FL – Joe Hannoush’s campaign for State House District 25 has launched and will conclude on Election Day, November 6, 2018. District 25 includes most of Ormond Beach, Volusia beachside, Port Orange, and New Smyrna Beach.

Joe Hannoush has already spoken with hundreds of residents in and around his district. Hannoush stated, “This has already been an incredibly eye-opening experience. A lot of folks ask a lot of questions and are themselves very opinionated.”

“When listening to residents, a major issue that comes up a lot is the rising cost of healthcare. The healthcare industry could learn a thing or two from the auto care industry. Auto care providers go out of their way to compete with one another to give the consumer the lowest prices possible. The high-priced services usually aren’t advertised at all or you need insurance to afford it! Wouldn’t it be great if consumers could see the price of a service before they get it? People seem to like that idea.”

Taxes are another issue Joe Hannoush will be looking to take on. “Part of the ‘American Dream’ is to own your own home. But do you really own it if it can be taken from you if you don’t pay property taxes? Florida thrives on people coming to visit. Let’s spread some of the local costs with those visitors with the sales tax. The tax burden for folks across Florida would go down.”

“Criminal justice reform is a big one for me,” stated Hannoush. “I can’t believe we lock people in cages for smoking a plant. Where is the victim? Where is the harm? Non-violent crimes should be treated as such. People are losing their jobs and their families and placed with violent offenders when arrested. This is not a recipe for a reformed outcome.”

After the 2016 election, Joe Hannoush found himself displeased with the small number of candidate choices on the ballot. “What really struck me was when I heard that about half the State House seats in Florida went uncontested in 2016. I knew I couldn’t just sit back and complain anymore. I had to do something about it. So I decided to be the change I wanted to see and run as a candidate myself.”

Joe Hannoush believes, “Individuals should have the freedom to choose how they live their life so long as those actions do not adversely affect the liberties of others.” In regard to choosing a party for which to run, Hannoush stated, “Like a growing number of folks, I don’t find myself fitting comfortably into either the major parties.” Hannoush chose to run on the Libertarian Party ticket.”The platform makes too much sense to ignore. One worth attaching myself to and help grow.”
